The Lions Grab Victory Against Rochford

10th February 2015

Injuries proved to be an issue for both teams with numerous players unavailable, however it was Norwich Rugby Club who held on to beat Rochford, who were 5th in the league before the game started.

Norwich were playing at home and started the game well, but seemed vulnerable to the odd counter attack. It was stern defending by the team that prevented the visitors taking the lead.

Jonny Wheater and JC Brown were looking like a dangerous duo for Norwich with good passing and intelligent kicking out of hand. The Lions had failed on numerous occasions throughout the first half to score the first points, that was until Martin Cullum latched onto the end of a pass to go over in the corner. Brown couldn’t convert from the tight angle.

The second half saw Rochford pile on the pressure and dominate possession for the majority of the half. Again it was some superb defending that was keeping the away team at bay.

Norwich clung on for the majority of the half and even when Rochford threw everything they could at the solid defence, they just couldn’t break them down, meaning Norwich move up to 4th in the league with this crucial win.
