Porch FAQs

Do you need planning permission for a porch?
Porches generally don’t need planning permission, but they need to fit within certain guidelines. So long as the porch covers less than three metres square of ground, and is no more than three metres high, it likely won’t need planning permission. We take care of any planning permission paperwork that might be needed so you don’t have to worry.
What are the different types of porch?
A porch can be designed to fit the style of your house with a wide variety of materials, colours, glazing, and roof shapes. Our porches fit into six categories: pitched, gable end pitched, double hipped to wall, double hipped to ridge, single hipped and flat.
What is the purpose of a porch?
A porch can add useful extra space to your home, and a place to leave shoes or muddy wellies, as well as adding an interesting feature to the exterior. A porch will also increase your home’s energy efficiency as well as security by adding an extra barrier outside your original front door.
How much does a porch cost?
The cost of porch will greatly depend on its size and location, as well as the style you choose in terms of roof shape and glazing. The materials you choose will also impact the price, such as brick, uPVC, or aluminium.
