Advantages of uPVC Sash Windows
Easy to maintain
uPVC is our most durable window material. It’s also the easiest to maintain. Regularly cleaning uPVC sash windows with a damp cloth keeps the windows looking like new. Sash windows also tilt to give you access to those hard to reach places.
Energy efficient
Anglian uPVC double-glazed sash windows are A-rated as standard with a high level of thermal efficiency, helping to keep you warm and reduce your heating bills. Our sash windows are draught-free and effective noise reduction keeps the street noise outside.
Durable design
Made from toughened glass accredited by the British Standards Institute (BSI), Anglian uPVC sash windows are designed with security in mind. A security bar is fitted on the inside of the frame to help prevent forced entry.
Why Choose Anglian uPVC Sash Windows?
Elite Victorian style windows
Anglian Elite uPVC sash windows are designed to replicate the look of traditional Victorian sash windows. They have a deep bottom rail measuring 105mm included as standard to match original Victorian designs. The windows also have a 39mm slimline rail where the panes meet to let the maximum amount of light into a room. Mechanically butt joined profiles and staff beading perfectly replicates the look of a traditional wooden sash frame.
Elite uPVC sash windows have been tested and approved by Secured by Design, the official police security initiative. According to the initiative, homes that meet these standards are 75% less likely to be broken into.
Perfectly counterbalanced
Anglian uPVC double-glazed sash windows offer a stunning level of detail that blends harmoniously with homes of all styles and ages. Our uPVC sash windows are counterbalanced and through a system of hidden runners and springs, the window can be opened and closed. A traditional sash window is made of small grids or panes known as ‘lights’ or ‘muntins’ that create the look of a cottage window. These are joined by glazing bars to create the illusion of a single, larger window. Anglian uPVC sliding sash windows are available as single or double-hung, which refers to how the window can be opened.
Anglian Classic sash windows
Classic uPVC sash windows combine the best features of a traditional timber sash window with contemporary energy efficiency and security. Toughened glass comes as standard across our uPVC sash windows, and an integrated security bar helps to guard against intruders trying to lever open the window. Mitred welded profiles add strength and durability to the corners of the Classic uPVC sash window while beading adds a modern finish to the frame. Complete the look of your sash window with upgrades including decorative horns, gold and chrome furniture and Georgian or Victorian bar glazing effects.

uPVC Sash Windows FAQ
Sash is simply the name for the frames that move and hold the window glass. Depending on the type of sash window, the window sashes may vary. For example, one sash usually moves up and down allowing you to open the window, while the other stays fixed in place.
Sash windows work on a pulley system. The sashes – or frames that move and hold the window glass are opened and closed through a system of counterbalance pulleys or springs, hidden in the frame of the window. The window design hides the mechanism from view.
A double-hung sash window has an upper and lower sash that move up and down. This allows for extra ventilation and makes the windows easier to clean. Only the bottom sash moves on a single-hung window, with the opening typically at the bottom.
There are several locking features of a sash window. Anglian sliding sash windows are fitted with key lockable cam locks which lock the two sashes together. Key-operated limit stops are fitted to the top sash so that you can open the windows a little way for some air without the worry of someone climbing in. Sash stops protect the mechanism and prevent the two sashes sliding past each other.
If you’re looking to replace your old timber sash windows, uPVC can be a more affordable solution. Removing your old wooden sash window and replacing with a modern uPVC double-glazed sash window is a cost-effective decision in the long run.
