The new coalition government between the Conservative party and the Liberal Democrats could boost people looking to carry out energy-efficient home improvements in their homes.
John Alker, head of advocacy at the UK Green Building Council, said that recent talks between the two parties when it was revealed that there was to be a hung parliament could be a “good thing” for the sustainability market.
“I think we could see a fair amount of agreement and the fact that we have got a Lib Dem [Chris Huhne] in place at the Department of Energy and Climate Change I am taking as pretty good news,” he added.
Mr Alker went on to say that people will be encouraged to carry out home improvement projects as both the Lib Dems and Conservatives have similarities in their views on the environment and sustainability.
Recently, Tony Rooke, environmental manager for Logica, said that more British homeowners need to alter their approach towards eco-friendly property improvements, which could be helped by the new coalition government.
