On a bright Winters afternoon Norwich R.F.C. welcomed league leaders Ipswich R.F.C. to Beeston Hyrne. Norwich R.F.C. took to the pitch determined to repeat the previous week’s victory against Holt R.F.C.
The game started with early forays and exchanges into the visitors half, resulting in two penalties in the first eight minutes of the game for Norwich.
However, it was not long before Ipswich took advantage of a missed tackle and took the lead. This was shortly followed by the home team storming back taking another penalty. The lead continued to swing back and forth, and despite their best efforts, Norwich were unable to hold on to the lead.
Soon after the start of the second half, a penalty for a scrum infringement gave Ipswich a 13 point lead. The Norwich teams spirits did not drop and pushed on to score a corner, although they were unable to convert the points. Norwich continued to push back with two amazing driving mauls, which resulted in Norwich taking a two point lead. Unfortunately this was shortly lost as Ipswich gaining a corner and a conversion.

Both sides kept the pressure up in the last ten minutes of the game, but strong defence from both teams meant that Norwich were unable to pull the score back in their favour.
It was a tough game and Norwich were unlucky not to win, but they should be proud of their performance. Ipswich had a much harder game than they had anticipated.
The final score was Norwich 24 – Ipswich 27
