You may remember a recent blog post about an Anglian Home Improvements employee Marcus Jahrling, aka Mr Giggles, attempting a world record for the most ‘High Fives’ in a minute.
Well…He did it! This weekend, June 12th marked the day of the attempt at this year’s Canvey’s Got Talent, a regional show similar to the popular ITV programme, Britain’s Got Talent. Local dance group K2, who competed on Britain’s Got Talent, made an appearance in support of the day.
The talent show is all in aid of the Haven Hospice for Children, a completely independent charity that runs off donations.
The Anglian employee dragged in some colleagues to help him set up his line of people, all eagerly anticipating taking part in Marcus’ World Record attempt. It began to feel like a military operation after 30 minutes of adjusting hand positions, getting the line straight and getting the official witnesses to sign all the paperwork.
Local Conservative party member Rebecca Harris and the Lord Mayor were the official witnesses making sure that Mr Giggles didn’t miss any hands and confirming the amount complete in the time limit of 1 minute.
On the second attempt Mr Giggles successfully completed his challenge to do the most ‘High Fives’ in one minute, taking his tally to a total of 101, but Mr Giggles believes he “could double the record!” Have you got this planned for next year?!
The weather took an unfortunate turn for the worse with a downpour, this affected the concentration and the size of the crowd, meaning most would have been itching to get a warm, dry jacket on.
Well done Marcus on this amazing achievement, not many people can say their name is against a World Record! Although, Anglian can claim a few employees with the accolade.
