One man has highlighted the need to employ a reputable conservatory company after being duped by a rogue trader.
One homeowner has paid nearly £8,000 for a conservatory that was never built, highlighting the need for homeowners to use reputable renovation companies. Robert Allcroft, from Hitchin, in Hertfordshire, hired a worker to build a conservatory on his property, but said all he has received is laid concrete, reported the Comet.
The homeowner has paid £7,820 to the “rogue trader” but, after four months of work, still has no conservatory. He told the newspaper: “I would warn other people to be on their guard against this unscrupulous trader. He’s not a big company and no-one knows what he’s up to.”
Mr Allcroft’s comments highlight the need for using a reliable company, such as Anglian Home Improvements, when building a conservatory. We have been about for 40 years and are now one of the UK’s top high-quality home improvement suppliers. A spokesman for Hertfordshire Trading Standards also warned homeowners not to hand money over upfront for work. The Trading Standards Institute also offers advice on how to complain about poor quality work.
