Charity Zumbathon Raises £900 for Charity

16th September 2015

Legal secretary Julie Dixon, who works at Anglian’s Head Office in Norwich, hosted a charity Zumbathon in June to raise money for the June Hancock Mesothelioma Research fund in memory of her late father who died from the disease in 2002. Mesothelioma is a form of cancer that is often associated with exposure to asbestos.

The Zumbathon took place at North Walsham Community Centre in Norfolk lasting for three hours. Entrants paid £10 to participate and were invited to get sponsorship from friends and family.

Additional funds were raised by raffling prizes that were kindly donated by local businesses, friends and family. Julie, who is a member of the newly formed Charity Committee at Anglian, is also a part-time fitness instructor and has hosted many charity fitness events in the past. Julie said, ”The support from Anglian has been wonderful. Not only has it match-funded to the tune of £100, it also provided several of the raffle prizes.

I would urge all Anglian staff to take advantage of the match-funding scheme, if you are considering doing something for a charity you love. The help and support you’ll receive from Anglian is well worth it as I found out. With Anglian’s support, we raised over £900 to help fund research into this terrible industrial disease”.
