Musician and celebrity Sir Cliff Richard is facing the heartbreak of having to see his beloved conservatory pulled down because he did not abide by planning permission rules, according to the Daily Mail.

Sir Cliff decided to add the conservatoryto his luxury mansion and thought it would be the perfect finishing touch, but his developer did not organise planning permission – unlike Anglian who fully arrange this for their customers, avoiding catastrophes such as this.

The newspaper said Sir Cliff’s retrospective planning application was not accepted by Runnymede Borough Council and the local authority ruled it will have to come down.

He was told by the company that built his conservatory that he did not need planning permission, which turned out to be incorrect.

Almost 50 per cent of people think that investing in a conservatory is a worthwhile and could ultimately add value to a house, according to a report by the independent estate agency group, Spicerhaart.
