The judging is well underway, with Kirkby Stephen village being judged today by John Woodward and Mel Henley.
They will be looking around St Stephen’s Church, a beautifully peaceful churchyard, with lush lawns, pear trees, lots of wildlife and a meadow where plants flourish.
John and Mel will then take a wander through the Silver Street Sensory Garden, before visiting the local Kirkby Stephen Grammar School where they grow plants and produce to sell on to the community.
The judges will then take a lovely stroll alongside the river Eden to see Edensyde, which is a site of scientific research. The river is rich in fish, crayfish, otters, beetles, flies and birds such as martins and dippers. The final stretch of the judging is the local allotments.
This village is being judged today, but many more are to follow. Click here to view some of the beautiful places the judges will be visiting.
