Bulls slaughtered by the Knights

The Anglian Knights haven’t had the best of starts to the season and hadn’t won a game until Saturday when they played Nostro Bulls reserves. There are a few new faces in the team with Liam and Ellis Watts joining, along with Will Barber.

Reece Harrison started in goal with a good back four consisting of Kirk Lanckmans, Ovvie Ogbokor, Ian Probert and Keiran Schofield, with Mark Cook sat in front of the defence, leaving Ellis with a free role in midfield. Supporting on the flanks were Lee Kiddell and Josh Taubman, who would be supplying ball into the penalty box for Liam Watts and Jim Newman.

Ellis Watts challenging for the ball

The Knights got off to a flying start with unlikely scorer Lee Kiddell scoring a blinder with his weaker foot. The ball had fallen to him nicely after some great pressure by the Anglian Home Improvements sponsored side, and he hit it beautifully into the top right corner. 1-0

Nostro Bulls on the ball

Anglian didn’t ease off the pressure for the rest of the half, but couldn’t find the net. Nostro Bulls, however, capitalised on an injured Ian Probert, who had helped keep the Bulls at bay. Probert came off injured forcing a defensive reshuffle and some miscommunication saw the Bulls striker in on goal. His shot lobbed Harrison in goal perfectly. 1-1

Nostro Bulls under pressured

From then the goals piled in for Anglian with a hat-trick from new signing Will Barber, Jim Newman got a brace and Liam Watts got his first goal for the team too. Nostro Bulls did pull one back and were unlucky not to get a third, only to be denied by the bar.

Anglian Knights scored by Jim Newman

It was a superb team performance, particularly by the midfielders who not only put in a great effort at defending, but created many opportunities for the strikers. Hopefully this will lift the team for next week’s game against South Walsham.
