The start of the build for the Hampton Court Flower Show begins

By on 5th July in Fun

How long do you think it would take to build a show marquee at the Hampton Court Flower Show?

From the initial erection of the marquee to it being completed for the visitors to walk through the doors it takes 10 days.

On average it takes a team of :-
– 12  people
– 12 hours per day
– 10 days
– 1440 hours to complete the build

And copious cups of tea and coffee!

The marquee and its contents will have been erected, pulled, pushed, heaved, hammered, nailed, painted, decorated, dressed and polished all before the show starts.

A lot of hard work, sweat and in some cases tears (although we like to avoid that situation) goes into creating something grand for you all to see and is being replicated all around the show grounds of Hampton Court.

We are pleased to say that the weather for the build has been kind so far.  Although looking very grey at times as you will see in the photos, the plans, set and the design are all coming together for the ‘Celebrity Speakers & Catwalk in Bloom Theatre’.

We thought we would like to give you a glimpse of how the build starts through to its near completion, saving the glitz and glam and final finishing touches for you to see at the show itself on the first day.

We do hope that you have enjoyed seeing how the marquee is put together and look forward to welcoming you all into the ‘Celebrity Speakers & Catwalk in Bloom Theatre’ on stand DD1, which is located in the Escape Zone on the south side of the grounds.
