How to Clean uPVC and Composite Doors

Your door will accumulate dirt, cobwebs, and dead bugs over time. But don’t worry, we have simple tricks to help you thoroughly clean your uPVC door, even in hard-to-reach areas.

Cleaning the Door Glass and Panels

To clean the glass and main panels of your uPVC or composite door, use warm, soapy water to wash the door. It’s a simple yet effective method. Using a sponge or micro-fibre cloth is effective for removing stubborn dirt. It won’t scratch or damage the door.

To prevent scratching the door, avoid using bleach or scouring pads. These will harm the door’s finish and void your warranty.

Avoid these products:

  • Scouring pads
  • Methylated spirits
  • Bleach
  • White spirit
  • WD40
  • Iron wool

Cleaning the Door Frame

You can create your own brush nozzle to remove dirt and debris. It works best for cleaning the door frame, especially at the bottom. If you don’t have a nozzle for your vacuum. Simply use a toilet roll cardboard tube. The cardboard tube can fit over many vacuum nozzles. You may need to cut or bend it to reach those difficult areas.

Regularly vacuum the channel where your patio doors slide. This will prevent dirt and debris from affecting their smooth operation. Clean your doors using these methods to keep them like-new for years to come.
