Norwich R.F.C. welcomed the visiting team of Chelmsford R.F.C. to Beeston Hyrne this weekend.
Norwich started this weekend’s game with all guns blazing and desperate for a win. After recent losses it was imperative to work hard and win this game to aid their points position in the league.
The home team dominated the first few minutes of the game, and scored in the first 6 and 17 minutes of the game, which lifted the team’s spirits.
After some excellent running and increased defence by the Norwich team, Chelmsford attempted to push more into the Norwich half but was kept at bay.
At half time the score stood at Norwich 17 – Chelmsford 0

The teams returned to the pitch after half-time with a changed of ends. Norwich now faced the chilly wind which, in the first half had blown in their favour.
With the wind now benefiting the visitors, they soon showed Norwich that they were here ‘to do business’ and soon added their first points to the scoreboard. Following a change of players and a frantic break of play, Norwich was able to add to their score and held on to their lead, until the final whistle.
The final score was Norwich 20 – Chelmsford 7

This was a game where Norwich were very pleased to be the winners and acknowledged that they had some difficult games over the next few weeks.
Andy Micklethwaite, General Committee member said “ There is plenty still to do but a win against a top 5 side gives us hope”
