A talented under 12 team, Cottage Farm, playing in the Tamworth District League on Saturdays and the Lichfield Sunday League look set to win both leagues, but to top off their brilliant season, they are in the final of the Lichfield Cup.
Nick Eddington, who has helped coach the team since they were just 4 years old, told me earlier of how they have been runners up in the leagues for the last 3 seasons, and the chance to win the treble has got the kids filled with excitement, passion and drive to win some silverware!
As with any football club, Cottage Farm has had turbulent seasons with their best players often being scouted by local, professional football teams such as Aston Villa, Birmingham and Wolverhampton Wanderers. Despite this, they have managed to keep hold of a core of players and built on this year on year.
The 11-a-side team, sponsored by Anglian Home Improvements, will be pulling out all the stops to beat Penkridge FC in the final of the cup playing at Tamworth FC’s football stadium, The Lambs on Sunday 15th. The boys will kick off at 5.30pm hoping to fulfil their hopes and dreams of winning the cup! It is free to enter through the turnstiles if you do want to go and cheer the lads on.
Good luck to all the lads! 🙂
