Europe’s best female golfers have united in order to back a campaign which has seen some of them install double glazing to try and cut their carbon emissions.
The Green Initiatives For Tomorrow (Gift) project is being launched at this year’s Ricoh Women’s British Open and it encourages spectators, players and the wider golf community to take steps to improve their homes’ energy efficiency.
Laura Davies, the most successful British female golfer ever, pledged to install double glazing and fix a leaking tap as part of her contribution to the campaign.
Ricoh global ambassador Paula Creamer said: “The Gift initiative by Ricoh is a fantastic way to start reducing your carbon footprint and shows how you can directly contribute to planting trees in Africa and making our world a greener place.”
Investing in double glazing is one eco-friendly improvement that is rewarded in a new government scheme which gives money to groups who have made energy-efficient changes to public buildings.
