Anglian is always keen to keep abreast of traditions and changes that happen within the glazing industry.  We were interested to hear of the announcement this week that the Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF) has become the first corporate member of The Worshipful Company of Glaziers and Painters of Glass (The Glaziers’ Company).

The GGF represents companies who make, supply or fit, glass and glazing products in the UK and internationally, which includes the craft of stained and painted glass.

Nigel Rees, Group Chief Executive of the GGF said “it was always keen to develop partnerships with affiliated organisations such as The Glaziers’ Company. Our new corporate membership cements our long standing relationship and augers well for mutual benefit in the future.” He went on to explain the importance of the relationship between the two bodies, “It’s essential for the GGF to maintain this strong relationship because of The Glaziers’ Company involvement in the craft of stained and painted glass and their representation of that specialist sector of the glass industry.”  He continued that “a key benefit of membership of The Glaziers’ Company is networking with a community of like-minded people including executives from organisations and businesses from the industry”

The Worshipful Company of Glazers and Painters of Glass dates back to 1328 and is now referred to as the Guild of Glaziers.   Stained glass windows have been around for hundreds of years and were initially used to weatherproof churches and buildings of importance as glass was considered a luxury.

Today, stained glass can be achieved by painting a colour straight onto a glass sheet without having to join many small pieces of glass together.  With improved understanding and modern technology, we are able to replicate many designs and style periods from history onto our windows.

A unique design can add a timeless elegance to your windows and doors, linking them back to an architectural feature and bringing individuality to your home.
