Here is the latest instalment from garden designer David Domoney, telling us what’s happening in the build up to this years Hampton Court Palace Flower Show.
I have incorporated some entertainment areas into The Anglian Home Improvements ‘Naked Garden’, which will be decked with Elondo hardwood by Exterpark. The scientific name for Elondo is Erythrophleum Ivorense, and originates from West, Central and East Africa.
The Elando decking comes in red, yellow or orange brown, very durable, highly resistant and FSC certified. Karl Harrison, managing director of Exterior Decking said “It is exciting to get asked to supply the finest decking available but to strip back the whole concept of decking and create something new, I like a challenge”.
The “Naked Garden” concept enables us to present exterior timber in its most natural form, and has inspired Karl to create a first for the UK, decking with colour stripped bare. Using a bleaching technique and removing the tanning from the upper surface of the wood, leaves the wood void of colour. Exterpark decking, also has no screws, just naked timber.
Gardens and outside space are often overlooked as an extension of the interior of the house. Decking should enhance and transform the look, feel and pleasure of gardens, and genuinely turn the space outside of the house into an extra room.
I look forward to seeing the ‘Naked Garden’ as it sounds like it is getting better and better!
