The Hamlet Centre Trust recently launched a campaign to raise money towards transforming the St. Raphael Club building for their Children’s service to use. This will also mean that the Adults’ services will be able to use all of the Hamlet Centre building at Ella Road. They are hoping that by providing the services from the separate sites, both will have the opportunity to expand and provide support for more families in the region.
However, to do this they will need to raise lots of money! On Saturday 16th October service users, families, volunteers and staff members organized a sponsored walk from the Hamlet Centre to the St. Raphael Club. The walk was nearly a mile and a half long, and led them through the grounds of Norwich Cathedral, along London Street and past the Forum.
They hoped it was a fun event for everyone and a great opportunity to raise money towards this exciting milestone in the Hamlet Centre’s history.
The Hamlet Centre has also been nominated as one of five shortlisted charities for the Aviva/EDP Community Chest competition! If they win the competition, the Norwich City footballers will wear the Hamlet Centre logo on their shirts for the game against Leeds on Saturday 20th November. In previous years charities have been able to raise up to £20, 000 from the publicity, clearly this would be a great way to add to the money they have already collected for the redevelopment of the St. Raphael Club and the Hamlet Centre.
To win the competition they have to ask as many people as possible to collect their tokens which can be found in the EDP newspaper and give the tokens to them. The tokens are available from now until Monday 1st November. They ask that it would be really grateful if you could collect the tokens and ask friends and family to help too. Imagine how cool it would be to see the players wearing their logo!
You can also vote for them by texting ‘aviva hamlet’ to 88442. This will cost the same as a normal text message but only one vote from each phone number will be counted.
