Over 114,000 people have been effected by a new energy meter scam being offered to home owners.
Energy UK has explained how criminal gangs are offering cut price energy deals to customers with prepayment meters, meaning you pay out for an offer you won’t receive.
This is considered even more dangerous due to it involving the “salesman” coming into your house to read your meter, potentially putting you at further risk.
Data from energy suppliers shows that people i n London are the most vulnerable, followed by Birmingham and Manchester.
“Although it might seem like an easy way to save money, not only will you be letting a criminal into your home, you will end up having to pay twice,” said director of Energy UK, Christine McGourty.
The Energy Savings Trust revealed that you can save up to £130 a year off your energy bills, simply by having double glazed windows and doors installed into your home.
