On a dank, grey and cold afternoon at Beeston Hyrne, Norwich R.F.C played St Albans R.F.C in the second round of the RFU Intermediate Cup. It was going to be a tough game for Norwich, ever conscious that they were in a relegation position in the league; it seemed to make the game even harder.
Norwich started with determination and after a number of attacks it resulted in an early conversion, taking the lead 7 – 0. The visitors kept pushing during the first half and after breaking through the Norwich defence, they took the half time score to 14 – 14.
The second half started with great vocal support for both sides. The visitors kept up the pressure and following a number of tries put the visitors in front. Norwich struggled to establish their game in the second half and despite their best efforts were unable to extend their lead to stay in front.
The game finished Norwich 21 – St Albans 34
