Norwich hosted bottom of the table Wigan Athletic on Sunday, hoping to take all 3 points and regain the form shown earlier this season.

Before the match the Anglian Home Improvements Player of the Month award was given to Grant Holt who had a superb month firing in goals for Norwich.

Norwich got the game off to a great start with Wes Hoolahan scoring in the first 10 minutes. Al Habsi’s poor clearance lead to a quick Drury throw-in, which put Simeon Jackson in on the left side of the penalty area. Hoolahan reacted quickest to the cross from Jackson putting the ball into the top corner.

After the goal Wigan took control of the game and took it to Norwich, with Beausejour creating the first chance, but his shot from the left was straight at Ruddy.

Ruddy then proved his worth moments later, when Rodallega picked up the cross from Moses in the 6 yard box, and smashed the ball goalwards, but the Norwich stopper was equal to it.

Norwich can count themselves unlucky as a long ball up field saw skipper and Player of the Month Grant Holt behind the backline. His shot was blocked by the arm of Caldwell, but the referee waved play on.

Rodallega then failed to convert the rebound of Jordi Gomez’s hopeful shot from 25 yards. Ruddy then spilled another shot, this time from Rodallega, but managed to snatch it away from Moses as he followed the shot up.

Holt had a good chance in the second half, but he couldn’t put away Drury’s cross. At the other end Ruddy did brilliantly to get to McCarthy’s low effort.

Norwich attempted to cushion their lead, but Wigan’s solid defending left no room to score, resulting in the guests pulling back an equaliser after 68 minutes.

Maloney delivered a delightful ball for Victor Moses who took the ball round Ruddy and slotted it into the open net.

Lambert had to create some flair to a Norwich team that have not been their usual self of late, bringing on wingers Pilkington and Bennett. Jackson won a free-kick on the edge of the box, but Pilkington’s shot curled over the wall and crossbar.

Norwich then came close to scoring again as Morison’s header was cleared off the line by Beausejour.

With minutes remaining, Wigan came closest to breaking the deadlock when Diame managed to clear the crossbar from 6 yards out!

Final score 1-1
