Anglian joins forces with Norfolk police to ensure safer neighbourhoods

27th September 2007

Anglian Home Improvements has joined forces with Norfolk Police to help promote the Safer Neighbourhoods Initiative.

Norfolk Police and Anglian Home Improvements: Working together for safer neighbourhoods

Anglian, the UK's leading home improvements company, is sponsoring the initiative aiming to solve problems that blight our communities, such as crime and disorder, anti-social behaviour, public confidence and security.

Fifty-two Safer Neighbourhood Teams (SNTs) are being set up across Norfolk, with dedicated Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) who will concentrate on ‘quality of life' issues important to residents and businesses.

This will free up "regular" Police Officer resources to focus on core operational duties.

Anglian's sponsorship will enable Norfolk Police to launch a communications campaign raising awareness of the initiative and build public confidence.

Alex McNutt, Anglian's chief executive, said: "We are delighted to be able to get involved in such a high profile and commendable project. The Safer Neighbourhoods Project seeks to solve the problems that blight our everyday lives and tie up so much valuable police time.

"Hopefully by sponsoring the communications strategy, we can help raise awareness and visibility of the project, helping the PCSOs do their job effectively."

Chief Constable Ian McPherson of Norfolk Police said: "Communication is key to the success of neighbourhood policing and I am immensely grateful to Anglian Home Improvements for their generous sponsorship. Safer Neighbourhoods Teams represent the lifeblood of future policing in Norfolk, and we are committed to listening to our communities and working alongside them to resolve local issues."
