Yarnbombing – A New Craze

By on 20th August in Garden

Here at Anglian Home Improvements we have been getting very involved with gardening and beautiful gardens, but I was shocked today to see this!

The tree is completely covered in brightly coloured, knitted cobwebs, which looks incredible. It’s quirky, colourful and gives extra spark to an already naturally beautiful thing. This is supposedly a new craze, but this is the first I have seen or heard of it.

Yarnbombing is when people go out under the cover of darkness, apply there knitted wonder and leave a calling card before fleeing for all to see when morning comes.

I have never seen anything like it around Norfolk, but it is going on all over the world and not just on trees. It seems to be a massive hit over in America with people ‘yarning-up’ train seats, bike parking poles, lamp-posts and even cars! Click here to see lots of yarnbomb pictures.

Is it vandalism though? I don’t think so, I think it is just people who love to knit, trying to liven up the city, town or village they live in. As long as it is not harming the tree or plant it is attached to, I think yarnbombing is harmless fun.

If people are planning on doing this around Norwich, I would love to hear from you!
