What to expect from this year’s Hampton Court Flower Show

By on 27th June in Garden

Chelsea Flower Show has been and gone with some great gardens on display with The Laurent-Perrier Garden winning the Best Show Garden and the BBC/RHS People’s Choice Award going to Hope on the Horizon, but now it’s nearly time to turn our attentions to Hampton Court Palace Flower Show.

Here’s some of what you will see at this prestigious flower show.

See the Anglian Home Improvement’s Facebook and Twitter pages for ways to win tickets to the show.

Inspiration

There’s a new section to this year’s flower show, with the ‘Low Cost, High Impact’ section having a rename – now ‘Your Garden, Your Budget’ – this section will display varied gardens from chilled out, low budget and simplistic to grand outdoor areas for entertaining and relaxing.

Each of the sixteen gardens in this area were created with set budgets in these four categories; £7,000, £10,000, £13,000 and £15,000.

Keep an eye out for the Garden of Solitude by Alexandra Frogatt, made on a budget of £15,000. We think this garden will look amazing because of its eco-friendly features; recycled glass has been used to make panels to allow light to flow through, concrete and wood has also been upcycled and used in this garden along with a plants that are rich in nectar, ideal for bees and butterflies.

The other garden I think will get a lot of attention is the Bacchus Garden. Bacchus is the Roman god of wine…

Don’t forget you will have this year’s Show Gardens to inspire you as well as the Conceptual Gardens based around the seven deadly sins.

Grow Your Own

You can’t miss the giant Floral marquee, which is full to the brim with all sorts of exotic plants, from your classic roses to Bonsai trees. This marquee has everything you could imagine for your garden, so make sure you visit it with a few plants in mind or you may need a large purse/wallet and a van as you could end up with enough flowers to landscape your street!

If you’re interested in growing your own food, then head on over to the Growing Taste marquee. It will be fragrant and wonderful smells will fill the air as you wander around seeing fresh produce used to cook delicious treats. If you’d like to get into growing your own vegetables, we created a vegetable growing cheat sheet to get you on your way to eating fresh vegetables.
