Norwich City Football Club got their first win of the season last Saturday in a game most would’ve thought they would lose. The Canaries hosted Arsenal at Carrow Road and few would have bet on them to take away all 3 points, but Chris Hughton’s well organised team in yellow stole a 1-0 win.
Before this highly anticipated game, Simeon Jackson was presented with the Anglian Home Improvements Player of the Month award after a sparkling September for Norwich.
Arsene Wenger will be disappointed that his team of world class players, which boasts Spanish midfield duo Mikael Arteta and Santi Cazorla as well as German striker Lukas Podolski and defender Per Mertesacker, could not continue their decent start to the season with another win.
Captain Grant Holt was the only goal scorer of the game, capitalising on a rebound after Tettey’s long range effort was parried by the keeper. That goal separated the teams at the final whistle and manager Hughton was clearly delighted with the result.
The Anglian Home Improvements Man of the Match was centre back Sebastien Bassong for his solid performance.
This weekend all eyes will be on Villa park as Norwich City take on Aston Villa, who are now managed by former City manager Paul Lambert. Do you think the Canaries will get their second Premier League win of the season?
