Charlie Grice Updates us on his Progress at Various Championships

The Olympics is fast approaching, all of the athletes that have been supported by Anglian Home Improvements over the last year have been training hard to ensure they’re at peak fitness.  Here is the latest update from long distance runner Charlie Grice.

Hi Everyone,

Just a quick update on my progress as I am off to Gateshead tomorrow for the English Schools Championships which will be on Sky Sports 2 I believe starting at 2pm on Saturday if you are able to watch although I do not know what time my race will be I will be running in the senior men 1500m. I am really looking forward to the challenge and to defend my title!

It’s been a really busy 3 weeks for me. Two weeks ago i won the 800m at the South of England championships at Ashford which involved running in the heats on Saturday and finals on Sunday again in the u20 mens category. I was really pleased with the result as 800m is not my strongest event but the race was good preparation for last weekend National Championships and European Trials.

I am really pleased to report that I have qualified to represent team GB in Estonia in July.  I came second in the 1500m. To be honest I was really gutted because I felt I could win this event but I just got beat on the last 200m by a boy that is 2 years older than me.

Jon says 2nd is the best position to come because I go to Estonia with no pressure on my shoulders, although I am 4th fastest in Europe at the moment.  Jon is very confident that I can improve my times between now and then and still believe I can come away with a medal.

I am just in the process of packing but wanted you to know about the live TV coverage in case you can watch!

All the best

Bye for now

Charlie
