Green project showcases benefits of solar panels
A project is underway in Cambridgeshire to show local residents how energy efficiency measures such as solar panels operate in reality.
Two eco houses have been set up in St Ives and St Neots in a bid to get people interested in green home improvements.
Huntingdonshire District Council is behind the plans and is reported to have spent around £500,000 on the project so far, with each property benefiting from insulation and solar panels.
Council chairman councillor Jeff Dutton said: "People are trying to save money by home improvements everywhere and now every household has the chance to follow some of these examples to save money on their own homes."
He even suggested that property prices in the region could be boosted if people take on board the advice issued through the project.
Farmer's Weekly recently revealed that Cambridgeshire was playing host to a solar panel barn conversion, billed as the biggest of its kind in the country.
